From homeless to town councilor: The power of a positive attitude
WORCESTER, England (PRWEB) February 23, 2016 -- If in one person’s lifetime they experienced divorce, homelessness and loss of eyesight they would likely believe they were destined to fail. Having these series of unfortunate events occur in his own life, author Allan L. Roberts was able to channel ambition through maintaining a positive attitude.
In his new book “Wake Up Don’t Let the World Pass You By,” Roberts depicts the impact a positive attitude has on personal development and seizing opportunities. Throughout the book Roberts walks readers through the process of creating actionable steps for overcoming circumstances and achieving goals.
Each chapter of “Wake Up Don’t Let the World Pass You By” is designed for readers to ask self-evaluating questions to propel them closer to their life goals. The end of each segment summarizes the chapter by giving readers a concise call to action.
“People need to focus on their ambitions and then take action,” said Roberts. “Wishful thinking is a waste of time unless you create a plan and then take action.”
Roberts tributes his positive attitude as the key to getting back on his feet while grappling with divorce, unemployment, homelessness and his loss of eyesight. Upon being contacted by the Sight Concern charity, Roberts completed woodworking and cooking courses allowing him to rebuild his confidence. Since overcoming these obstacles Roberts has went on to mentor young entrepreneurs and launch a life coaching practice. At the age of 70, Roberts has recently been elected as a town councilor.
Through the steps outlined in this book along with Roberts’ example of overcoming hardships, readers will feel empowered to take control of their own destiny.
