Two Quorum Client Hospital CEOs Named as Becker's Hospital Review's “50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know”
Brentwood, Tenn. (PRWEB) February 24, 2016 -- Two Quorum client hospital CEOs were named among Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2016 edition of “50 Rural Hospital CEOs to Know,” including Dennis Shelby, CEO of Wilson Medical Center (WMC) in Kansas and Warren West, CEO of Littleton Regional Healthcare in New Hampshire. This is Dennis Shelby’s second consecutive year to be named to the list.
“The CEOs on this list are leading some of the most successful rural hospitals in the country,” said Mickey Bilbrey, President and CEO of Quorum Health Resources. "These Quorum CEOs demonstrate inspiring leadership, commitment to their communities and are helping advance healthcare in their states. We are proud to have leadership of this caliber at our client organizations.”
Dennis Shelby has led WMC since 2011. During this time, the hospital added new service lines including a Spine Clinic, an Orthopedic Clinic, Ideal Weight & Wellness program, Diabetic and Nutrition Management Center of Southeast Kansas and digital mammography. In addition, WMC opened a family rural health clinic in Independence, KS to provide quality healthcare to the residents of that community.
“I am honored to be named to this list for the second year in a row,” said Dennis Shelby, CEO of Wilson Medical Center. “This is an honor to Wilson Medical Center. It takes all of us working together to receive this kind of recognition.”
Since 2007, Warren West has served as CEO of Littleton Regional Healthcare, a 25-bed critical access hospital located about 70 miles from Canada. Under Warren’s leadership, The Leapfrog Group named Littleton Regional among 24 top rural hospitals in 2015.
“Rural healthcare leaders face challenges that are unlike those in urban areas of the country,” said Warren West, CEO of Littleton Regional Healthcare. “I am very proud to be named alongside these talented CEOs. Importantly, this recognition also represents the commitment of our entire staff to improve the patient experience.”
50 presidents, CEOs and administrators are named to this list each year. According to Becker’s Hospital Review, for this list, “rural” was defined as being located outside of a major metropolitan area. Leaders were selected based on various factors, including awards received; local, regional and national leadership positions held and their organization’s recent performance.
