A book entitled Alzheimer's Disease: A Potential $1.1 Trillion Call for Innovative Financial Products and Meaningful Tax Reform has just been published.

Alzheimer's disease is the third leading cause of non-accidental death in America.The cost associated with the care and treatment of Alzheimer's patients is $215 billion. Notwithstanding a miracle discovery in the interim, that cost is estimated to increase to $1.1 trillion by 2050.

On January 4, 2011 President Barrack Obama signed into law The National Alzheimer's Project Act - PUBLIC LAW 111-375. At the heart of this legislation is a provision that prevents AD care and treatments from bankrupting Medicare and Medicaid funds. That provision places a burden on the states to develop and fund an internal AD program. None of the fifty states are in a financial position to meet this obligation.

The text introduces two innovative financial products designed to help fund this medical crisis. If offers ideas about tax reform to help assist caregivers in meeting personal financial costs that up to now are leaving many families financially insolvent.
