AMAF is pleased to announce Dr. Thomas C. Kinnear, Professor of Business Administration at the Ross School of Business of University of Michigan as recipient of the 2016 Wilkie Award. “Tom is an exemplary winner of this award. His career accomplishments reflect his appreciation for the positive roles of marketing for firms, as well as its strong broader impacts. Of special note, his vision in founding the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing has provided the much needed venue (nearing 700 articles and climbing) that’s both stimulated and preserved scholarship on Marketing and Society through the past 34 years,” William L. Wilkie, the Nathe Professor of Marketing at the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame says. “Congratulations to this fine marketing scholar. I’m really looking forward to his commentary on this topic at the upcoming Winter Educator’s Conference.”

He was founding Editor of the Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Editor of the Journal of Marketing, and Vice-President of both Publications and Education at the AMA. His research has been published in the JM, JMR, JCR, and JPPM and he has written twenty-five editions of marketing textbooks in Principles of Marketing, Marketing Research, and Promotional Strategy. He has received awards for his teaching excellence and service, as well as the Herbert Dow Award for lifetime contributions in entrepreneurship and the Michigan Venture Capital Association "Lifetime Achievement Award."
Dr. Kinnear has also served as a consultant to the Federal Trade Commission and is currently serving as a member of the National Advertising Review Board (NARB), the final court of appeals for non-government enforcement of deceptive and misleading advertising cases.
