PowerSchool Develops an Online Registration Solution for Spartanburg School District 7 to Improve Student Safety Standards, Efficiency, and Family Engagement
Folsom, California (PRWEB) March 01, 2016 -- PowerSchool was selected by South Carolina’s Spartanburg School District 7 to modernize its student registration process. The efficient online solution will free up time for school staff to build better relationships with students and parents, improving communication and family engagement. Additionally, the solution will streamline student data collection, providing vital up-to-date information by the first day of school.
“We wanted a simpler solution for student registration so that families can provide us with information in an efficient and timely manner,” said Sonia Leverette, Assistant Superintendent for Student Services at Spartanburg School District 7. With more than 7000 students and 1200 employees making up this tight-knit school community, an automated process is necessary to streamline efficiency.
The electronic format allows families who have more than one child in the district to ‘snap’ data from one student to another. SmartForm™ technology, an intuitive tool built into the solution, collects relevant data based on previously entered information or choices (grade, activities, medical history, etc.). The data submitted by families is reviewed, polished, and formatted to meet district policies and then delivered into the student information system (SIS), resulting in up-to-date and accurate records on the first day of school.
Previously, it would take administrative staff well into the month of October to enter student data into their SIS. “With PowerSchool Registration, we can quickly obtain information we weren’t able to before. Nurses can generate reports to identify students with food allergies and/or medical conditions. Managing that vital information on paper increases the risk of human error. We’re improving our student safety standards by moving this process online,” notes Leverette.
All of the district’s handbooks and school related policies will be accessible online for families to review and provide signatures. “We love that the solution is flexible to meet the needs of our growing community. Down the road, we may implement online payment management and the school choice component so that families can submit applications online for the school of a student’s choice. We’re all very excited about having this valuable solution in place,” said Leverette.
Online registration for Spartanburg School District 7 will launch in May for kindergarteners and roll out to families of remaining grade levels this summer.
