Trenton Social, a locally-owned small business in Trenton, NJ is hosting the first-ever Trenton St. Patrick's Day Festival, featuring top touring Irish rock band, The Fighting Jamesons. Owner hopes big-name act will energize a waning tourism climate in the city.

As a small business owner in a city that's had its fair share of misfortune, mismanagement and hard times, I see one of my roles as providing micro-tourism here - creating marquee events that bring people to Trenton.

Trenton Social, a bar, restaurant and entertainment venue located in Trenton, NJ, will host nationally touring Irish rock band The Fighting Jamesons at their inaugural Trenton St. Patrick’s Day Festival on Sunday, March 13.

Trenton Social owner and local entrepreneur TC Nelson said, “While Trenton has seen some challenging years, it’s a resilient city with a lot of heart that’s primed for an upswing. As a small business owner in a city that's had its fair share of misfortune, mismanagement and hard times, I see one of my roles as providing micro-tourism here - creating marquee events that bring people to Trenton. The Trenton St. Patrick’s Day Festival is our most ambitious event to date, and warrants a headlining act of the highest caliber to draw guests from around the region, so it made sense to bring in one of the top Irish acts in the country, The Fighting Jamesons.”

Nelson will donate $5 from every ticket sold to help ensure the continuation of the capital city’s historic St. Patrick’s Day Parade, a 31-year tradition which has struggled to maintain support and funding after a competing parade took root in a more affluent neighboring suburb.

“We’re thrilled to have a harbinger of the new Trenton show appreciation and support for an old Trenton tradition,” said Dennis Keenan, chair of the Trenton Irish Heritage Association. “In order for our parade to remain viable, we need fresh ideas and strategies for how to bring people into the city to celebrate with us like they have for three decades. TC’s high-energy festival, the official after-party for our parade, is just what’s needed to reignite the enthusiasm.”

The Fighting Jamesons have shared the stage with other legendary Irish rock acts including Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly, The Saw Doctors, and Young Dubliners. They are coming to Trenton straight from performing at Washington DC's ShamrockFest, America's Largest St. Paddy's Day Festival.

Also performing at the Trenton St. Patrick’s Day Festival are: regional alternative rock band Leoce, Philadelphia-based soul/hop band Chalk and The Beige Americans, and local DJ Jay Kountree of Mohican Entertainment. Trenton Social’s indoor and outdoor spaces will feature a celebration of all things Irish including a Murphy’s Irish Stout beer garden pouring the best drafts, food trucks serving innovative Irish dishes, and an outdoor stage showcasing high-energy live music all day.
