Article Describing Rise in Buttock Lifts and Male Breast Reduction Reflects the New Realities of Today’s Plastic Surgery, says Dr. J
Beverly Hills, California (PRWEB) March 01, 2016 -- According to a February 27 article published by Medical Daily, new data released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reveals that, as part of a dramatic overall increase in the number of plastic surgeries performed since 2000, both buttock lift procedures for women and breast reductions for men have risen dramatically in recent years. Payam Jarrah-Nejad, M.D., F.I.C.S., F.A.C.S., known to his patients and colleagues as Dr. J , notes that the information very much jibes with what he’s seeing in his practice, as improvements in the area of buttock augmentation and men’s increased openness to plastic surgery procedures have led to increased popularity for both procedures.
Dr. J, a double-board certified plastic surgeon and an active member of the ASPS himself, notes that, while the influence of such voluptuous celebrities as Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian has been credited by many in the media with the increase in interest in buttock augmentation, improved surgical techniques may have been at least as responsible for the increase in these procedures. Specifically, the surgery known popularly as the Brazilian butt lift employs unwanted fat taken from elsewhere in the body, in contrast to older procedures, which used synthetic implants. Dr. J notes that the Brazilian technique is superior in that it allows the surgeon the freedom to sculpt a more natural and pleasing appearance for the patient’s backside. It also offers patients something of a “twofer,” in that the liposuction to remove the fat can also help improve the patient’s appearance elsewhere in the body. Just as important, however, the Brazilian technique offers a very important medical benefit, in that using the patient’s own body fat significantly reduces the chances of complications related to infection.
Dr. J goes on to note that men are starting to catch up to women in obtaining procedures, and one growth area focuses on addressing an issue many find deeply embarrassing: oversized male breasts. Medically known as gynecomastia, unusually large male breasts may sometimes be related to weight issues, but they are also just as often hormonal in origin. As men continue to become more concerned with their overall appearance and more open to new ideas about how to improve it, male breast reductions to deal with gynecomastia once and for all are likely to become even more popular, notes Dr. J.
