The Foundation for California Community Association Education Donates $57,500 to Community Association Research Nationwide
Los Angeles, California (PRWEB) March 08, 2016 -- On the 30th anniversary of the formation of California’s Davis-Stirling Act, which governs condominium, cooperative, and planned unit development communities, Governor George Deukmejian and the Board of Directors of the California Foundation celebrated this historic occasion with an event that raised money to support the work of FCAR which conducts and commissions research, issues publications, hosts educational programs and awards scholarships for people involved with common interest communities.
The Davis-Stirling Act is recognized as the most important body of law governing the 14.5 million Californians served by community associations. The following honorees were recognized for their efforts in creating financial safeguards, disclosures, insurance protections and reserves in a framework that allows community associations to effectively govern and operate themselves:
• Governor George Deukmejian
• Governor Gray Davis
• Mayor Willie Brown
• Senator Larry Stirling
• Professor Katharine Rosenberry
• California Law Revision Commission
Adrian J. Adams, President of the Foundation for California Community Association Education stated, “We gathered to celebrate the impact of the landmark Davis-Stirling Act on the 50,000 Community Associations in California. The tremendous fundraising support arising from this event enabled us to make a major contribution to the work of the CAI and its Research Foundation, and, ultimately, to impact the 338,000 community associations and common interest communities in the country.”
“We are grateful to be the recipient of this generous donation recognizing the California Foundation’s impressive legacy of effective public advocacy for community associations. We will use these resources to pursue our mission of providing authoritative research, analysis and educational programs for homeowners, community leaders and association managers,” stated Christine Danielson Isham, president of the Community Association Research Foundation. Thomas Skiba, Chief Executive Officer of CAI, stated “This exemplary donation will enable CAI and our Research Foundation to develop new resources and programs that support effective operation of community associations for many years to come.” Executive Director David Jennings noted that this is the largest single unrestricted donation received by the CAI Foundation.
