Clock Ticking for $100,000 ORIGO Education Grant Initiative Recipients
St. Charles, MO (PRWEB) March 07, 2016 -- ORIGO Education, creator of the world-class learning resource Stepping Stones, is inviting school districts to apply for a total of $100,000 in educational grants to help improve elementary mathematics instruction in underserved communities. Five $10,000 grants ($50,000 total) will be awarded as Innovation Improvement Grants, with the other $50,000 being divided in varying amounts as Matching Assistance Grants.
“This is a huge opportunity for districts to create positive change in their schools by developing their curriculum under the Common Core,” said Melisa Bartlett, General Manager of ORIGO Education. “Our mission is to make learning meaningful, enjoyable, and achievable for all, and we’re encouraging districts that share that inspiration to apply for the grants.”
Grant Initiative applications should demonstrate a strategic plan, a serious commitment to improving educational outcomes, and a drive to meet or exceed all of the following goals:
• Improving elementary mathematics instruction
• Advancing pedagogy
• Increasing student mathematics knowledge and raising test scores
• Engaging and exciting students in the classroom
• Closing the achievement gap
Applicants are required to submit an abstract detailing the district's goals, strategies, and intended uses for the grant.
The Innovation Improvement Grant will provide school districts with funding to purchase ORIGO Education print and digital resources and professional learning services. Districts applying for Matching Assistance Grants should only request the amount needed. Recipients of the Matching Assistance Grants will be required to match the grant with outside funds to purchase ORIGO Education print and digital resources and professional learning services.
“We have been using the workbooks, math facts, algebra activities, geometry paper folding activities, and games for four years now,” said Janice Campbell, Principal of Carpe Diem Primary School in Vashon, Wash. “It’s the best math curriculum I have come across, and is a hit with parents and students.”
Applications must be received by April 30, 2016. Winners will be announced on June 3, 2016.
