High-performance organizations emphasize the importance of recognizing and managing conflicts in the workplace which occur because we engage in social interaction with people with different goals, values, and backgrounds.
Effectively dealing with conflict is one of the most difficult aspects of getting along with other people. When faced with conflict, we often react without realizing that we have constructive, healthy choices available to us. We unconsciously start pushing back. One way to reduce discomfort is to identify and use common steps to resolve conflict in a positive way.
In this fun and interactive presentation, attendees learned:
- The causes of conflict
- To separate the problem from the person
- Five conflict management styles
- Ways to control nonverbal communication
- Fair vs. unfair fighting
- How to send a clear message
