A New Segment on Solar Power Is Being Developed for Public Television by "Behind The Scenes" with Host James Earl Jones
(PRWEB) March 08, 2016 -- In a new segment of “Behind The Scenes”, host James Earl Jones (Field of Dreams, Star Wars) will give the audience a better look at the development of solar power.
Solar power is any conversion of sunlight into electricity. The most common form of solar power is photovoltaics (PV), which turns sunlight directly into an electric current. This is often seen through the use of PV solar panels that collect sunlight and transform it into usable DC power. Concentrated solar power is a less direct way to obtain solar power. It includes the use of mirrors that track and reflect sunlight into a highly focused beam. Photovoltaics is largely used in small to medium-sized applications where individual users can reduce their fossil fuel consumption and replace it with solar power. Concentrated solar power has been known to be used on a larger scale to supply power to a developed area.
There are several reasons why solar power is becoming a prominent source of energy around the world. The cost of PV solar panels has begun to decrease, allowing individual households to take advantage of solar power. Increased popularity of solar power is also due to the adoption of incentive programs by several countries. Businesses and households can often find government sponsored incentives to help fund their solar power installations.
Behind The Scenes is circulated through Public Television Stations, but is not distributed to or through PBS.
