As Alaskans we adore wines that can be paired with seafood,” said Betsy Lawer. “Our ceviche recipe is tangy and sweet, making it perfect to pair with a glass of chilled Rosé. It’s an elegant pairing that can enjoyed at any spring or summer gathering.

Lawer Estates, a boutique winery in Calistoga, California, today released their 2015 Rosé of Syrah, a blush wine that is perfect for spring or summer. The Lawers, who hail from Alaska, released their new wine with their family’s homemade ‘Shellfish Ceviche’ recipe. The wine was created by the experienced Lawer Estates winemaking team of Cary Gott and Kelly Deianni.

“As Alaskans we adore wines that can be paired with seafood,” said Betsy Lawer. “Our ceviche recipe is tangy and sweet, making it perfect to pair with a glass of chilled Rosé. It’s an elegant pairing that can enjoyed at any spring or summer gathering.”

Betsy Lawer is a third generation Alaskan banker with a large extended family—many of whom work with her at the winery. Betsy and her husband David started Lawer Estates in 2003 and today they are dedicated to sustainable farming, family and community. The winery is run by David, Betsy and their extended family, who work closely with their experienced team to produce limited production, sustainably grown, terroir driven wines.

“The 2015 Lawer Estates Rosé has a beautiful blush color and a clean, rich body,” said Lawer Estates Winemaker, Cary Gott. “Bright fruits of cherry, strawberry and golden delicious apples, along with a long finish of melon and crisp apples, makes this wine a spring favorite.”

The Lawer Estates 2015 Rosé of Syrah retails for $22.00 and can be purchased online at LawerEstates.com and in specialty stores. Produced in the classic method for Rosé production, the winemakers press whole clusters of Syrah grapes and then ferment the clean juice at cool cellar temperature. This produces a beautiful wine with fresh fruit notes. On the palette the wine has a full richness of ripe fruit and a long lingering finish.
