Acumed Releases the Slide-Loc™ Anatomic Radial Head System, With Unique Side-Loading Design

Share Article

The first and only anatomically shaped radial head implant now includes side-loading functionality that doesn't require a set screw

Designed in conjunction with Shawn W. O’Driscoll, MD, PhD, the Slide-Loc™ Anatomic Radial Head System utilizes an innovative approach to side-loading radial head prostheses. The Slide-Loc head and neck assembly slides onto the stem and rotates in situ into alignment. The implant is fixed in place using a unique rotational locking mechanism (with patent pending) that does not require a set screw. The absence of a set screw eliminates the risk of head dissociation due to screw back-out.

The Slide-Loc Anatomic Radial Head System features a further refined anatomic radial head and a three-part implant design for increased modularity: the system includes six head options (left and right specific), three neck lengths, seven standard stem options, and eight long stem options. Long stems are intended for fractures that extend distally past the radial neck and for revision following failed radial head arthroplasty.

The Slide-Loc Anatomic Radial Head System offers 504 implant combinations, 254 more than the original Anatomic Radial Head System. The system features reamers instead of broaches for canal preparation, allowing for a larger stem diameter.
