Boxman Studios & Compass Group Complete Burrito Restaurant at UNM
Albuquerque, New Mexico (PRWEB) March 09, 2016 -- Made from a 20’ purpose-built container, the quick service restaurant is perfect for a quick meal in-between classes or a long lunch/ study session.
“Designing for the public in Albuquerque is an interesting challenge, and you see very neat architectural solutions in the area as a result,” Said Matt Wilson, Architectural Designer at Boxman Studios. “We were able to make a smart and functional space from upcycled materials that serve the students and staff efficiently. We at Boxman are happy to see the success of this installation, from concept to ribbon cutting.”
The container will be used for warm service, meaning none of the food will be cooked in the container. Instead, the kitchen and food preparation equipment will be used to store fresh produce, cool beverages and steam tortillas.
Keith Reynolds, Boxman Studios Shop Manager discusses the design and fabrication of the project. “Fresh Box at UNM was a custom built container with a built-in slope on the roof for draining & a built-in canopy to protect from weather. The unit was as wide as you can deliver over the highway without a special permit. Fresh Box was built in record time and delivered on schedule within the client’s budget. Fresh graphics on the exterior added to the already wild paint scheme. This build was an exciting one for our team.”
