Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, and France24, the international news channel, today announced their partnership to launch Mashable avec France24.

The partnership will combine Mashable content, which is driven by the mission to inform, inspire and entertain the digital generation, with France 24's expertise in local coverage, existing audience and video distribution capabilities to create a French-language version of Mashable for a global French-speaking audience.

“Launching in France is a big moment for Mashable as we continue to expand globally and form strategic partnerships that can accelerate our growth in new markets,” said Adam Ostrow, Chief Strategy Officer at Mashable. “We’re very excited to be teaming up with France24, whose long track record of excellence in both video and news makes them the perfect partner.”

France24 currently broadcasts 24/7 to 315 million homes around the world in French, Arabic and English in 180 countries to a combined weekly audience of 50 million viewers. Mashable avec France24 will have a dedicated editorial team combining the talents of both France24 and Mashable to create original text and video content in French as well as translate and adapt select Mashable stories.

“‘Mashable avec France 24' is a marriage of complementary skills, know-how and strengths,” said Marie-Christine Saragosse, Chairwoman and CEO of France Médias Monde. “This original digital partnership with players in a new generation of websites is a positive initiative for the French public service and a guarantee for the future which brings us closer to young audiences to whom we will deliver a new approach to news, with the same unwavering rigour and our French perspective.”

Mashable avec France24 will launch on the France24 platform and will be funded equally by the two companies. It will also receive funding via the Innovation Fund from the Digital News Initiative created by Google.
