“Maryland, at last count, has close to 19,000 opportunities in the cybersecurity field, many of which are in Central Maryland between Catonsville and The Universities at Shady Grove,” says Dr. Rick Forno, UMBC Cybersecurity Program Director. “Cybersecurity touches every company these days and every government, large and small.”
With our nation’s ever-increasing reliance on the Internet, cybersecurity has become a necessity. The United States is constantly developing new operational doctrines, advanced cyberwarfare capabilities, cybersecurity enhancements and the necessary domain-focused human capital needed to achieve or maintain their interests in cyberspace. In his latest budget proposal, President Barack Obama is seeking a 35 percent hike in cybersecurity funding. That represents a $19 billion increase.
“The outlook is bright for our graduates looking to move into a cybersecurity career,” says Dr. Forno.
If you interested in attending the upcoming Cybersecurity Information Session to find out how a Master’s Degree from UMBC can help you get ahead in an ever-increasing field, please RSVP today: http://umbc.edu/shadygrove/cyber/infosession.
