San Diego, CA (PRWEB) March 09, 2016
NewSchool of Architecture & Design (NewSchool) has announced that three of its students recently won prestigious ADDY awards, which are hosted by the San Diego marketing association SDX and were presented during the 2016 San Diego American Advertising Awards Gala.
Student Amjad Alotaibi won a Silver Addy in the Online/Interactive category for her six-second looping stop-motion animation Vine video for the anti-smoking campaign, Truth; Marius De La Peña, now an alumnus (’15), won a Bronze Addy in the Elements of Advertising category for his logo design for Toast Enoteca & Cucina; and Greg Rovelo won a Bronze Addy in the Elements of Advertising category for his logo design for Park Boulevard Catering.
“We're very excited and proud to take home three ADDY awards this year,” said Chris Clark, a faculty member in the Media Design School of Digital Arts at NewSchool. “This year's win is very significant, as we have demonstrated clearly to the industry that we are a major player in this local design space and have very strong student work. I am very proud of our school and students. Our student work submissions demonstrated proficiency and excellence in brand identity, copywriting, photography, digital production, concepting, art direction, graphic design, creative direction (print and interactive), audio production, video production and animation.”
Last year NewSchool’s Armando Roman (’15) was awarded a Bronze ADDY in the student Elements of Advertising category for a logo he created as part of a branding and integrated advertising campaign project for an upscale East Village sushi restaurant, The Parlour.
According to a SDX news release, “SDX has been at the core of the creative community representing the best in San Diego advertising since it was founded in 1911,” said Doug Hecht, Seed San Diego and current SDX president. “Presenting the San Diego American Advertising Awards showcases the high level of creative talent working in this town, and puts our best work in the national spotlight.”
Founded in 1911, SDX (formerly San Diego Ad Club) is San Diego’s oldest continuously operating business association. SDX brings together creative thinkers, business planners, marketing aficionados, communications technology innovators and more in order to build a community of professionals focused on what’s next in the industry. SDX is creative, rooted in brand building, committed to public service and grounded in building valuable professional and personal relationships.
