Psychometric Society Honors Pacific Metrics Director of Research Innovation with Lifetime Achievement Award

Wim J. van der Linden, Ph.D, has been granted the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his myriad contributions to the field of Psychometrics.

“I am quite honored to receive this award,” said Dr. van der Linden. “It is heartwarming to be recognized by my academic and industry peers for a lifetime of work dedicated to the advancement of the field of psychometrics.”

Pacific Metrics, a leading provider of assessment technology solutions, is pleased to announce that Wim J. van der Linden, Ph.D. has been awarded the prestigious Career Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Psychometric Society.

The award honors individuals whose publications, presentations, and professional activities over a career have had a widespread positive impact on the field of psychometrics. These contributions may include important theoretical or methodological developments, applications of psychometric theory and methods that have influenced substantive research in psychology, educational measurement or related fields, or innovative ideas that have significantly affected psychometric practices.

Dr. van der Linden’s research includes item response theory, adaptive testing, optimal test design, response time modeling, and the statistical detection of cheating on tests. He is an earlier recipient of career awards by the Association of Test Publishers and the National Council on Measurement in Education, the Lindquist Award by the American Educational Research Association, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Umea University, Sweden, in 2008

As the recipient of this annual award, Dr. van der Linden has been invited to present a keynote lecture at the 2016 International Meeting of the Psychometric Society (IMPS 2016) in Asheville, North Carolina.
