Associated General Contractors of Connecticut Honors Gilbane Building Company with a 2015 Build Connecticut Award
Glastonbury, Connecticut (PRWEB) March 10, 2016 -- Gilbane Building Company was recently honored by the Associated General Contractors of Connecticut with its Build CT Award for the construction of the new patient tower (Peter and Carmen Lúcia Buck Pavilion) at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut.
The new 13-story, 300,000-plus square foot new patient tower, designed by The SLAM Collaborative, was a major initiative for Danbury Hospital, a regional medical center and university teaching hospital. All existing patient care functions remained active throughout construction of the new 13-story north tower clinical addition. The addition features three new 25-bed medical/surgical floors, a new 30-bed intensive care unit, a 90,000 SF state-of-the-art emergency department, and a healing garden “Oasis” as the new centerpiece to a distinctively landscaped entry sequence. The project is currently targeting LEED® Gold certification.
“We are proud to have been recognized for the accomplishments of the team including numerous trade contractors who all exemplify what can be accomplished when talented individuals truly collaborate,” said Chris Enders, Senior Project Manager. “To be honored and recognized with this award is further representation of the team’s commitment to seamless delivery, quality construction services and unwavering dedication to the safety of hospital patrons and staff.”
The Build Connecticut Award recognizes contractors and is selected by a panel of judges representing all sectors of the commercial construction industry in Connecticut. In 1999, the AGC of Connecticut, building on its motto of skill, integrity and responsibility, created the Build Connecticut Awards Program as a way to honor exceptional project teams in the Connecticut construction industry. This prestigious competition recognizes the construction management/general contractor firms and the subcontractor/specialty contractor firms for their professional roles in the winning projects.
