Successfully Creating a Start-Up Culture, Capital Office Interiors and Carleton University have Completed the Carleton Led Accelerator
Ottawa, Canada (PRWEB) March 14, 2016 -- Capital Office Interiors has recently created a Solutions Group, a team of designers and innovators who create high performing business environments by effectively combining products, technology and services for organizations that strive to leverage all of their assets to achieve success. The Solutions Group is a unique offering that recognizes the connection between business issues and the spaces that can help solve them. When utilized properly, office space becomes a destination where people come together with a shared purpose in a place that delivers not only what they want, but the things they need.
Carleton University’s TIM Program was a leading example of the need for innovative and business-focused planning in the development of new office space and helped inspire Capital Office Interiors in the creation of a formal Solutions Group.
In 2014 Capital Office Interiors was invited by Dr. Tony Bailetti to help realize the TIM Program’s accelerator space at Carleton University in Ottawa.
Dr. Bailetti holds a faculty appointment in both the Sprott School of Business and the Department of Systems and Computer Engineering at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and has a strong vision of how engineering and business are intertwined in an entrepreneurial culture. He also runs Lead To Win, a Carleton-led ecosystem which has been named one of the top ten academic business incubators in North America by UBI Global.
“Lead To Win has helped dozens of technology businesses in our region since 2002,” said Bailetti. “To grow, a new venture must earn the right to exist and find a business model that is stronger than the business models of its competitors. Lead To Win helps individuals with great ideas understand how to make money from growing their own technology businesses.’’
Capital Office Interiors and Steelcase were excited to apply our research and learnings about spaces that support Start-Up Culture to the Lead-to Win space. Dr. Bailetti and his team knew that space can influence outcomes and together we set out to create a dynamic space that encourages all users to create and share.
Capital Office Interiors translated Dr. Bailetti’s “napkin sketch” of the TIM Program process into a physical space that reflected and encouraged Startup Culture.
Participants work in a common space with access to a variety of physical settings and tools to encourage both focused and collaborative work. Ideas are shared, networks are created and trust is built as entrepreneurs work with business and community leaders to enrich local and global economies.
STARTUP CULTURE
Steelcase believes that Startup Culture is about the vibe, or ethos, of Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs.
Its about the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, comprised of startups, their founders, their investors, and those who run incubators, coworking spaces, or accelerators. And it's about helping them leverage their culture AND their space to accelerate business results as they strive for innovation, scale, fitness, or all three.
It is also about the 4 shared themes that drive them and their approach to space. (personality, passion, authenticity, and agility).
Capital Office Interiors created a space where users could express and experience these shared themes.
