Our collaboration on new optical access solutions is expected to revolutionize optical networking in the coming years
Richardson, TX (PRWEB) March 15, 2016
Foxconn Interconnect Technology, Ltd., (“FIT”) and iPhotonix announced a launch of a joint solutions and collaboration effort on delivering new technologies within the optical access. The collaboration will center around interoperability, standardization of optical access networks, manufacturing and design expertise to create new and better carrier-class solutions.
FIT is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., (“Hon Hai”) the largest consumer electronics manufacturer in the world. iPhotonix is an industry innovation leader for the transformation of optical access, network functions virtualization, and fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) technologies.
The joint solutions cover a wide array of areas of cooperation and allow access to new markets by expanding mutual geographical presence. This partnership will leverage FIT’s large manufacturing capabilities with the extended functionality and scalability of iPhotonix’s software at the forefront of access technologies. Together the parties will introduce a large portfolio of FTTP devices (both active and passive) for enterprise and residential environments and market them to Communication Service Providers (CSPs) across the USA, Europe and Latin-America.
“We are very excited to deepen our relationship with FIT and enhance our combined offerings by using our complete portfolio of carrier grade FTTP products, and leading-edge enterprise NFV solutions,” said Amir Elbaz, CEO of iPhotonix. “Our collaboration on new optical access solutions is expected to revolutionize optical networking in the coming years.”
By joining forces, FIT and iPhotonix will be able to offer CSPs increased capacity, cost-competitiveness, rich industry expertise and knowledge, and offer a multitude of value added services.
"As often requested by our customers in the USA and Europe, we are now in a position to offer a complete set of optical access solutions. This is a strategic move that will strengthen our position as a leading supplier for carriers," said Mr. Yan Margulis, Vice President of Sales, FIT.
“Together, we plan to bring new solutions to market and accelerate adoption of advanced and open optical networks, while simultaneously improving the business case for CSPs,” continued Mr. Elbaz.
Like in data centers and other access technologies, optical access networks are evolving toward open, standards based approach common across all other elements.
