Greenberg Traurig’s Joel A. Katz Donates Music Collection to Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Launches Music is Medicine Fund
ATLANTA (PRWEB) March 14, 2016 -- Joel A. Katz, chair of the Global Entertainment & Media Practice at global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, has donated a priceless collection of music memorabilia to the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University. This gift coincides with the T.J. Martell Foundation’s establishment of the Joel A. Katz Music is Medicine Fund.
Katz, who was recently named to Billboard magazine’s “Power 100” list of most powerful executives in the music business for the fifth consecutive year, has amassed a comprehensive music collection spanning decades and genres including rock, pop, hip-hop, and country. Visitors can view memorabilia such as platinum records, autographed guitars, and hand-written lyrics from some of the biggest artists in the music industry including Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, George Strait, Julio Iglesias, and Willie Nelson.
"We believe there is a real connectivity in terms of music and medicine,” Katz said. “Music can help people's disposition and aid them through certain protocols and cancer treatments they may receive at Emory's Winship Cancer Institute. Our 'wall' is all about life and reminding patients of positive memories they associate with music in order to emotionally uplift them as they experience their treatment.”
The Joel A. Katz Music is Medicine Collection is located in the Tunnel Level of the Winship Cancer Institute building on Emory's Clifton Road campus. The exhibit is free and open to the public weekdays, 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
