Simon Fuller, BritWeek's 2016 Entrepreneur of the Year

I’m so proud to have played a small role in introducing so many British individuals to the world stage from all areas across entertainment, fashion, and sport.

BritWeek, in partnership with the UK Government, announced today that Simon Fuller will receive its Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the annual Business Innovation Awards dinner on April 27th 2016 in Los Angeles. Named by "Time" as one of the 100 most influential people in the world, Simon Fuller created American Idol and has managed artists spanning from the Spice Girls to Amy Winehouse, as well as both David Beckham and Victoria Beckham. And now he will be honored at the 7th annual Business Innovation Awards.

Sponsored by the GREAT Campaign and BritWeek, and presented in partnership with AFEX, the annual Business Innovation Awards recognize companies from both California and the U.K. The competition for the awards is open now, until March 18th, and the winning companies will be announced at the April 27th awards ceremony. Additionally, the event recognizes individuals, like Simon Fuller, who have been great innovators in the UK-US business partnership. By doing so, the awards help build the next success stories for UK-US business.

“Simon Fuller changes everything he touches,” said BritWeek Chairman Bob Peirce. “Music, television, sport, fashion – he is an icon of innovation in business and the best possible recipient of our Entrepreneur of the Year Award.”

Simon Fuller commented: “I love to see the best of British talent being able to flourish in America. Our two countries have much more in common than just the language; we have an ideology of hope and we’re driven by positive outcomes. I’m so proud to have played a small role in introducing so many British individuals to the world stage from all areas across entertainment, fashion, and sport.”

“Simon is an extraordinary man who has done extraordinary things. His influence in entertainment and sport alone has changed the landscape in those industries - he's made the transition from Sussex to Los Angeles and he is the perfect centerpiece for an evening celebrating UK-US innovation. He will have a message about entrepreneurship all our other finalists will want to hear,” said Dan Rutstein, Regional Director of UK Trade & Investment.
