Due to the required change in patient work flow and low reimbursement for time spent, most physicians don’t have the time or resources to perform Annual Wellness Visits.
Spring Park, MN (PRWEB) March 16, 2016
Novus Healthcare Inc. released outcomes data from 17,190 Medicare patients that show a 23 percent reduction in emergency room visits, as well as the ability to capture required benchmark data for an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) to be eligible for Shared Savings.
The Novus Healthcare Inc. platform builds off the Medicare Annual Wellness Visit to help ACOs meet their Shared Savings goals while reducing emergency room visits and hospital admissions. The company’s comprehensive approach emphasizes disease management protocols that have been documented to improve patient engagement while also reinforcing recommended treatment plans.
“ACOs need a current health risk profile on their patients, along with very specific coding of all chronic conditions,” said Novus Healthcare Inc. CEO Dr. Damon Kenton. “Typically, the ACO will request that the physician perform an Annual Wellness Visit as a means of collecting this data. Due to the required change in patient work flow and low reimbursement for time spent, most physicians don’t have the time or resources to perform these visits. In part, this is why only 16 percent of Medicare patients received an Annual Wellness Visit in 2014.”
The traditional Annual Wellness Visit does not capture enough of the required patient data an ACO will need to be eligible for Shared Savings. The Novus Annual Wellness Visit platform is able to reach an average of 82 percent of the eligible Medicare beneficiaries within a practice, reduce the administrative burden on the physician by up to 7 hours per patient annually, and positively impact 32 ACO benchmarks.
