Shareholder Nancy E. Taylor from global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP and co-chair of its Health & FDA Business Group will be speaking at the Society for Human Resource Management’s (SHRM) 2016 Employment Law & Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. March 15, 2016. The three-day event will help HR professionals stay on top of recent court decisions, regulations, and newly enacted legislation that are important for their company’s success. In attendance will be senior-level HR professionals who devote their time, effort, and energy to the future and direction of human resources.

Taylor will be speaking on “Workplace Wellness: Promises, Challenges and Legal Questions.” Her discussion will review the proposed regulations that the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has proposed to wellness plans and how this could impact implementation of such plans in various organizations. This session will: provide an overview of the scope of workplace wellness programs; review the pros and cons of workplace wellness programs from the perspectives of both employers and employees; explore the legal framework for workplace wellness programs under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); and share more about the EEOC proposed rule.

Taylor has advised clients on health and FDA related matters for more than two decades. She has broad experience in areas relating to the Affordable Care Act provisions, CMS reimbursement and policy issues relating to providers and plans, and she has done a significant amount of FDA regulatory work. Taylor regularly counsels clients on compliance relating to the Affordable Care Act, in particular the requirements and issues governing employer sponsored wellness programs.
