Adelaide, SA (PRWEB) March 17, 2016 -- Following the successful Implementation Planning Study, the Private Hospital Group is expected to pilot the technology across a 650 bed acute care facility as its luminary site. The Private Hospital Group has indicated there are another fifteen Australian hospitals within its group that would benefit from the deployment of a Patient Flow Solution.
The solution provides an overview of capacity and demand at both the ward and unit level, providing real time information about open and available beds, patients coming in together with the admission source (emergency, direct elective or transfer) and potential and confirmed ward discharges.
Additionally, clinicians can access individual patient information on mobile devices such as bed and room details, name and gender, unit and whether they are a boarder on the ward, presenting problem, infection precautions, length of stay, expected discharge date, discharge confirmation and relevant clinical documentation.
CEO of Alcidion Group Limited, Mr Ray Blight commented “We are delighted to have been selected to develop an implementation planning study. The terms of the contract are commercial-in-confidence, but the deployment of a hospital wide Patient Flow Solution typically sits between five hundred thousand and one million dollars, depending upon the number and complexity of the disparate Clinical Information Systems to be integrated”.
The platform has already been successfully deployed at three hospitals in Melbourne and throughout the Northern Territory, with all three locations seeing improvements in their National Emergency Access Targets (NEAT) and a significant reduction of the Length of Stay (LOS) for inpatients.
According to a survey from CapSite, 31 percent of United States hospitals said they plan to implement or upgrade a patient flow solution to improve efficiency. The survey looks at how buying patient flow software, which aims to help administrators ease emergency department crowding, has been weighed and divided by providers into two categories: best of breed or as part of a recent health information systems/EHR investment.
“Efficiency improvements are by far the most significant driver for provider organization investments in patient flow solutions. More specifically, healthcare providers are focused on improving bed turnaround times and reducing patient wait times.” Executive Director, Nathan Buzza said in a statement.
