AccuQuilt Announces the 2016 Quilt Block Design Contest
Omaha, NE (PRWEB) March 18, 2016 -- The AccuQuilt 2016 Quilt Block Design Contest is underway today and the winners—Grand Prize, Runner-up, Fan’s Choice—will go home with their fair share of the $13,000 in prizes. Participants have until 11:59 p.m. CST on April 8, 2016, to submit their designs to the contest page.
For entry to the contest, participants need to design an original quilt block using AccuQuilt design shapes, however if they don’t have an AccuQuilt Fabric Cutter and want the shape sizes, they can download the GO! Cutting Equivalent Chart on the contest page. Designs can be drawn by hand, with EQ7, Adobe InDesign, or any other preferred design software. The quilt block images should then be uploaded to the contest page.
Quilting icon Eleanor Burns is the guest judge this year and will assist AccuQuilt in selecting the winners. The grand prize winner will receive over $5,300 in total prizes, which include an AccuQuilt shopping spree, two round trip tickets to the AccuQuilt Headquarters in Omaha, hotel accommodations for four nights, Aurifil thread, fabric bundles, and more. Additionally, the grand prize winner’s design will be displayed on a 17-foot sign outside of AccuQuilt’s offices for the entire year.
“We can’t wait to see all of the beautiful designs from quilters all over the country and to select the winning design that will be with us all year,” said Greg Gaggini, AccuQuilt President.
Quilters are encouraged to tell their friends and family about the contest, so they can vote for them April 9 – April 22. Winners will be notified on or before May 6 and also publicly announced at the AccuQuilt Headquarters on June 9.
