Spring Means that Duncan, the Heart of the Chisholm Trail, is Ready for Friday Night Car Cruises on Main Street
Duncan, OK (PRWEB) March 24, 2016 -- On March 25th, the Main Street Duncan organization will begin their annual Friday Night Car Cruises in downtown Duncan, with the first cruise scheduled to start after the Duncan Swap Meet, from 6-10 PM.
The Main Street organization in Duncan, Oklahoma hosts five car cruises per year. The first cruise is always in March as an anticipation for the biggest cruise in April the Friday before the annual Cruisin’ the Chisholm Trail Car Show hosted annually on the 3rd weekend. The March cruise route runs from 7th Street to 10th Street on Main and Walnut while the April cruise extends to 12th Street for a bigger cruise route.
“Car enthusiasts and admirers enjoy the cruises downtown,” said Main Street Duncan Promotion Chairperson, Diahanna Anderson “and the variety of cars, trucks, and motorcycles is quite a display.”
The Main Street Duncan merchants will keep the stores open late, offering specials, and some will have door prizes. JQ’s Fil-American Diner will have Crab Night Friday for those dining downtown only until 8 PM. The Palace Theater will offer a free movie at 7 PM and Wiseley’s will be open to the public for glow-in-the-dark mini golf even after the cruise has ended till 11 PM.
“We’ve always stayed open late for the car cruises,” said Prairie Rose owner Pam Bruehl, “because we enjoy meeting new customers and the activities on Main Street. We’re longtime supporters.”
The last three cruises of the year will occur June 24th, and August 19th, September 16th. In June, Duncan will celebrate Founder’s Day across the city with activities ranging from Tractor Parades to 5K runs to ArtWalk Duncan. The August cruise will celebrate going back to school and the September cruise ends the year’s cruises with a live concert, food trucks, and more. To register for the car cruise, please bring proof of liability insurance and a valid driver’s license to the northwest parking lot of 10th and Main Street. Registration is $10 per vehicle. Only street legal and registered vehicles will be allowed to cruise. No burnouts will be offered at this cruise. Registration forms can be found online at http://www.mainstreetduncan.net.
