In late 2015 Lightower announced a large fiber acquisition in Baltimore, giving the company “direct access to nearly all major office buildings, data centers and sports venues in Baltimore,” according to a statement released by Lightower. “This network addition helps solidify Lightower’s presence in Baltimore, a city in which we continue to invest and expand. Our all-fiber solutions are now available to all enterprises, educational institutions, health care businesses, media companies, government agencies, and wireless and wireline carriers,” explained Rob Shanahan, CEO of Lightower.
Though the Lightower acquisition will give their customers access to numerous data centers in and around Baltimore, their central hub at One Market Center is the true engine behind the network. AiNET’s telecom hotel directly underpins 25% of all worldwide internet traffic, and has over 75MW of power redundantly provided by 4 city-wide network grids. Lightower joins industry giants such as Level 3 Communications, Verizon, Comcast, XO Communications, Zayo and Windstream who use AiNET’s One Market Center telecom hotel as their network backbone.
