Full Service Digital Creative Agency AvatarLabs Named Finalist for Three Shorty Awards Honoring the Best in Social Media
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 18, 2016 -- AvatarLabs, the award-winning, full-service digital agency that leads in innovation, design and technology for Fortune 500 corporate brands and the world’s top entertainment companies, has been named a finalist in three categories for the Shorty Awards, the top industry award honoring the best of social media. AvatarLabs’ nominations include three categories within the ‘Brands and Organizations’ competition that honor the innovative and creative work professionals are executing in social media: Entertainment - honoring the social media efforts supporting musicians, films, comedians, plays and other forms of entertainment; the best use of Facebook in a marketing campaign; and Best Photography and Graphics - honoring a social media campaign or overall social presence for exceptional use of creative visuals.
AvatarLabs’ finalist submissions in each category include:
- Best in Entertainment Category - Axe + Cross Viral Website & Social Content: To support the release of the Last Witch Hunter, Lionsgate enlisted AvatarLabs to imagine and create a digital chronicle of the Axe + Cross, the ancient order protecting Vin Diesel’s character (and humanity) from the ongoing witch threat. AvatarLabs proposed a dramatic expansion of the film’s backstory told through video, images, GIFs, character art and original illustrations. This highly sharable companion narrative helped cultivate an enthusiastic fan base for Lionsgate's all-new action-fantasy.
- The Best Use of Facebook Category – The Strain: A lavishly produced social media campaign was crafted by AvatarLabs to launch the second season of for FX's alt-vampire epic, The Strain. A richly imagined social storytelling campaign supported the entire 13-episode arc. Some themes directly paralleled the season two plot; others were more conceptual, permitting the development of original storytelling inspired by the show.
- Best Photography and Graphics – The Strain: A second finalist nomination for AvatarLabs’ work on the second season of The Strain. Several creative verticals were developed to inspire content that rose above the quantity-over-quality material that is the common stock of the social web, without breaking canon. The campaign included meticulously crafted photographic images—many composed from scratch—original illustrations in multiple styles, GIFs and short videos with original art and animation.
“The continually evolving world of social media marketing has expanded the potential reach and connection with target audiences in such fun, creative and challenging ways,” said Rex Cook, CEO of AvatarLabs. “Every day I am beyond proud of the work that our team conceptualizes and executes for our clients and having this exceptional work recognized by a community of our peers is both humbling and exhilarating.”
The Shorty Awards, now in it’s 8th year, honor the best of social media by recognizing the influencers, brands and organizations on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine and more. Winners will be announced on Tuesday, March 22, with the awards ceremony taking place on April 11 in New York City.
