Kinedyne LLC, a world-leading manufacturer and distributor of cargo control products for the transportation industry, announced that it will offer its free Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program at 2:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on April 1, 2016, in room B101, during the Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) 2016. The training follows Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations, and is designed to reduce Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) violations, minimize liability and promote highway safety while eliminating inaccuracy and ambiguity in the area of cargo securement protocols.
Kinedyne’s Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program is an all-inclusive instructional presentation that provides attendees with an in-depth understanding of FMCSA regulations and how these impact CSA conformity. Kinedyne has also designed a separate program dealing exclusively with the Canadian market, with regulations set forth by the country’s National Safety Code Standard 10 - Cargo Securement (NSC10).
“Kinedyne has trained more than a thousand industry professionals since the program’s inception, and offers the exclusive training course as a public safety contribution to the industry at no charge to participating trailer OEMs, dealerships, fleet and owner-operators,” Paul Wolford, vice president of sales and marketing for Kinedyne LLC, said. “Kinedyne provides on-site training to all qualified parties, and is the only company in the industry that will bring their expert staff and training tools directly to participants located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada.”
Kinedyne also offers scheduled group training at locations throughout its expansive North American distributor network, considered the largest in the cargo control sector. All participants who complete the complimentary course receive a certificate of course attendance and a free Kinedyne Cargo Control Calculator that enables them to quickly and easily determine strap and tie-down requirements needed to meet compliance regulations.
With Kinedyne’s Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program, fleets can reduce exposure to CSA violations and better protect their Behavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Category (BASIC) scores under the Carrier Safety Measurement System (CSMS). By learning about and adopting officially sanctioned cargo securement methodologies, participants minimize the chance of infractions, liabilities and equipment damage for themselves and their fleet.
“We use Kinedyne cargo control products at all our locations across the U.S., and had them come to a Virginia facility to present their Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program to our fleet staff,” Mike Greenberg, fleet manager / transportation manager for Kloeckner Metals Corporation, said. “My guys told me they were surprised that certain information they thought they knew, was actually incorrect. Even I learned something, and I hold a DOT Master Certificate from TSI.”
Kinedyne also offers cargo-specific regulation training for carriers who specialize in transporting unique and challenging types of cargo, like metal coils, logs, paper rolls, concrete pipes, intermodal containers, flattened cars, boulders, large equipment and machinery.
In creating its Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program, Kinedyne tapped the talents of Jeff Luick, the Company’s Northeast account executive. Luick, a 20-year commercial driver, has experience hauling flatbeds, dry vans and refrigerated cargos, and conducts the training with the perspective and authority that only a veteran driver can.
“Cargo securement awareness has gotten better over the last decade, but there is a lot of misinformation out there,” Luick said. “Drivers are motivated to be safe and to secure their loads correctly, but in the absence of proper training, I would estimate that a significant amount of cargo is improperly secured, leaving drivers and their carriers exposed to safety violations, rising insurance costs and litigation.”
“Even if a load is secured correctly, CSA violations can still threaten because infractions are open to the interpretation of the individual law enforcement professional,” Luick added. “That’s why we provide a printed excerpt from the FMCSA General Cargo Securement Regulations covering cargo length and weight to every program participant. We also advise participants on engaging law enforcement in a non-confrontational way and referring to the written regulations if the driver feels a citation is in error.”
Kinedyne plans to make a video of its Cargo Securement Regulation Training Program available online, following MATS 2016, and the following link to the video will be live on or about May 2, 2016 at: http://kinedyne.com/video-library.html
