When I need help, I want to speak with a professional and get on with my life

Four Seasons Financial Education (FSFE) recently revealed their 2016 Employee Financial Wellness Survey. This year's survey asked employees what their employers could offer to help them with their retirement goals. Access to one-on-one guideance with a professional topped the list at 48%, followed by more retirement education at 38%. A customized retirement plan came in third at 37%, while inclusion of a spouse/partner and "other" came in last (19% and 11%, respectively). Respondents were allowed to pick multiple answers.
"This doesn't surprise me a bit," says FSFE president, Travis Freeman. "When I need help, I want to speak with a professional and get on with my life versus combing the internet for answers. It looks like most employees may feel the same way." Freeman also said employers should be cautious about offering access to professionals since not all are independent. You must watch for the "wolf in sheep's clothing," he says.
Respondents were given multiple choices, including "access to one-on-one guidance with a professional, more retirement education, a customized retirement plan, calculators and tools, inclusion of spouse/partner in retirement education, or other."
