Live Webinar: How Optical Methods Combined with Thermal Analysis Provide Materials and Process Insight
Greifensee, Switzerland (PRWEB) April 04, 2016 -- METTLER TOLEDO is proud to present a new, live webinar on thermal optics that, when coupled with DSC, offer enhanced understanding of DSC curves. The free, English-language presentation will be offered three times on April 28th, 2016, to make it accessible for participants around the world. Please click here for your local webinar times or to register.
DSC is used to measure temperatures and enthalpies associated with transitions and chemical reactions. Optical options provide additional insight about crystal form or color changes, material defect propagation or material changes caused by light introduction.
The three thermal optics methods that will be covered in the webinar are:
• DSC-Microscopy: Mounted above the crucible, a microscope enabled with a camera allows you to capture images while the sample is heated or cooled to help interpret effects observed on the DSC curve.
• DSC-Chemiluminescence: An optical accessory uses a highly sensitive charge-coupled device (CCD) camera to record chemiluminescent induced light radiation emitted by a sample as it is measured in the DSC. It is used primarily to investigate oxidation behavior.
• DSC-Photocalorimetry: This method allows you to expose a sample to light of a particular wavelength range and intensity for a defined time and record heat flow from the sample. It is mainly used to study light-induced curing reactions.
These techniques will be explained in detail along with real-world application examples that illustrate the use and benefit of each. METTLER TOLEDO technology that attaches easily to standard DSC equipment will also be explored.
To discover how effective thermal optics can enhance your DSC protocols, please register today for the free, live webinar on Thermal Optical Methods.
