Mediaplanet Partners with Animal Activists to Give a Voice to the Voiceless
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 23, 2016 -- The campaign articulates the link between standard of care and food’s quality, safety and, ultimately, influence on consumers’ lives. Editorial features range from the importance of corporate transparency to demystifying the labels on the eggs we buy. On the whole, this campaign is built to call consumers to action and make cruelty-free choices in the supermarket.
The print edition of “Animal Welfare” is distributed within today’s edition of USA Today in Baltimore/DC, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Boston, with a circulation of approximately 250,000 copies and an estimated readership of 750,000. It will also be featured at the upcoming Taking Action for Animals conference, occurring from June 17-20 in Arlington, VA. The campaign will be disseminated in all of the attendee bags at this conference.
The digital component is distributed nationally, through a vast social media strategy, and across a network of top news sites and partner outlets. The print’s cover story, as well as the digital homepage, features Temple Grandin: renowned animal welfare scientist and industry consultant. In an exclusive interview, Dr. Grandin discusses how her autism has given her a unique ability to understand animals and allowed her to design facilities that are both efficient and accommodating to the instincts of the animals we use in food production. Dr. Grandin also addresses the contentious issue of gestation crates, stressing that what will drive the future of the industry is the action of the consumer, pressuring food producers to make lasting change.
This campaign was made possible with the support of The Humane Society of the United States, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Compassion in World Farming, Dr. Temple Grandin, World Animal Protection, Humane Farm Animal Care and their Certified Humane labeling standards, The Global Animal Partnership, Pete and Gerry’s Organics; Nellie’s Free Range, Compass Group, Applegate, The US Farmers and Ranchers Alliance, The Happy Egg Company, Egg Innovations, NestFresh Eggs and Smithfield.
