Boxed CEO to Be Honored By America SCORES
New York, NY (PRWEB) March 25, 2016 -- America SCORES, a national leader in urban after school programming, today announced it would honor Boxed Wholesale CEO Chieh Huang with the inaugural Commitment Award at the 10th Annual National Poetry SLAM! April 11th. Huang made news last year for offering to pay college tuition for the children of all Boxed employees.
Huang will be honored at the largest event of the year for SCORES, an elementary and middle school program that integrates soccer, poetry, and service learning for over 10,000 low-income youth at 175 schools in North America. The Commitment Award reflects one of the organization’s core values and is given to an individual who is dedicated to youth empowerment and education.

Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the National Poetry SLAM! showcases the power of America SCORES to improve lives while celebrating the achievements of outstanding elementary school youth. From thousands of students who audition and perform at local poetry slams throughout the fall and winter, 13 are selected by America SCORES coaches to win a trip to New York City and perform their original poetry.
The event serves as a benefit for America SCORES, with proceeds raised to bring more after school opportunities to elementary and middle school youth in underserved urban communities around the country. Sponsors include Volkswagen Group of America, Insperity, Broadridge, Tradeweb, the Sak Brand Group, and Soccer.com. Over 200 people are expected to attend the event at the SVA Theatre in Chelsea, with hundreds more live streaming it online.
