First Annual Arouet Foundation Charity Golf Tournament Raises Funds to Help Women Gain a Second Chance at Life
Phoenix, Arizona (PRWEB) March 25, 2016 -- More than 60 golfers teed off for a good cause on Thursday, March 3, participating in the 1st Annual Charity Golf Tournament to benefit the Arouet Foundation. Proceeds from the tournament will go toward helping incarcerated women in Arizona gain the skills they need to effectively reintroduce themselves to the workforce and positively contribute to our local communities.
The Arouet Foundation works with women who are currently incarcerated to provide educational opportunities, life-skills training and workplace readiness instruction. It also helps those who have already served their time with ongoing educational assistance, workforce development and job opportunities. Through its efforts, the Arouet Foundation significantly reduces recidivism rates and provides needed opportunities for women to re-enter community life as productive citizens. The funds raised at the tournament will directly support the Arouet Foundation’s “Transforming Our PossibilitieS” (T.O.P.S.) program. T.O.P.S. provides both professional skills training as well as programs geared towards personal growth and awareness. To date, more than 650 women have graduated from the program.
“We started the Arouet Foundation, with the help of Televerde, to prepare incarcerated women for life after prison,” said Shawn Lamb, Executive Director of the Arouet Foundation. “We are extremely proud of the women who have graduated from our program, and we are dedicated to continually driving our mission forward.
