Price Point Announces Conclusion of Complimentary Shipping Market Test
Rancho Dominguez, CA (PRWEB) March 24, 2016 -- Price Point, one of America's leading bike retailers has announced the conclusion and results of a three month market test centered on free shipping. Many factors were considered in this 90 day comparative analysis. The test began with complete no cost shipping including no oversized charges and no purchase minimum. That was followed by a move to the reinstatement of oversize charges but still no minimum purchase. Finally a $29 minimum was introduced. During the trial additional promotions were added in to determine if no cost shipping alone was enough to increase sales at the pace needed to make no cost shipping a viable option for Price Point.
“It became apparent that with no cost, no oversize and no minimum shipping, customers would place very small orders very frequently. Sometimes two or three orders in the same day,” said Director of Marketing, Rebecca Pisicoli. Ms. Pisicoli added, “the sweet spot really seems to be the $29 minimum; customers have no issue reaching that order total but have become more aware of getting every item all in one order.”
Price Point believes that the multiple small orders would make complimentary shipping not viable in the long term.
Logistics Manager Jose Sotelo says, “Orders have been flying out of here and the test has made the team more aware of how the shipping is done, it really has increased efficiency.”
Price Point plans to keep the no cost shipping with a $29 minimum as long as it remains cost efficient. Price Point notes that sales have been robust during the trail and customers really seem to be responding to the change. The $29 minimum order purchase gives Price Point the lowest no cost shipping threshold in the industry.
Customer Service Supervisor and Bike-Tech Specialist, Edward Dumphy says, “The response to this transition has been amazing, with already low prices and now free shipping, people are going crazy placing orders at a rate Price Point has never seen."
