Camp Shane, the country’s longest-running co-ed fitness & weight loss camp, announces its new location in Wisconsin.

"Many of our campers have misconceptions about nutrition. We teach campers what they need to know in order to lose weight and to continue losing weight after camp is over." David Ettenberg, Owner/Director of Shane Weight Loss Camps & Resorts

The weight loss program is hosted at Carthage College, approximately one hour north of Chicago, on a beautiful 80 acre campus along the shore of Lake Michigan. The school offers modern dorms that are fully air-conditioned, a state of the art multi-million-dollar fitness center, an Olympic sized indoor swimming pool, facilities for all sports and sprawling grass playing fields for the camp’s many outdoor fitness activities.

For 48 years, Camp Shane weight loss camps have helped transform the lives of kids and adults. Unlike a fat camp, Camp Shane teaches children and teens, ages 7 to 17, how to completely re-shape their bodies and their lives through an award-winning program of fun, educational activities and healthy living choices. Shane campers lose weight and learn simple techniques for keeping it off through nutrition education, cooking classes, a comprehensive menu focusing on everyday fresh, whole foods and portion control and fun, non-threatening activities.

"Many of our campers have misconceptions about nutrition. We teach campers what they need to know in order to lose weight and to continue losing weight after camp is over. We cover topics such as caloric intake, how to read a food label, what proper portions look like, mindful eating, proper hydration, making healthy choices at restaurants and much more. We also provide information to parents to enhance their knowledge of nutrition and tips to help their kids at home," says David Ettenberg, the Owner/Director of Shane Weight Loss Camps & Resorts.

Camp Shane’s uniquely nurturing environment teaches positive self-esteem and encourages a love of fitness by providing physical activities that the kids and teens enjoy participating in. The Camp also provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which greatly enhances the ability of campers to continue to lose weight and maintain a healthy weight after camp is over.

Parents take great joy in seeing the lifelong friendships that their children routinely make at camp. They are also truly impressed with the variety of supervised 24/7 camper programs. The daytime activities are many and varied, featuring swimming, Zumba, circuit training, all sports, yoga, dance, weight lifting and others. After a nutritious dinner, the campers engage in nightly activities such as scavenger hunts, talent shows, movie nights, campfires and DJ dance parties. Weekends are filled with even more Shane designed and unique events for everyone, such as “College Daze” and “Shane Carnival.” "Our campers absolutely love it here," says David.

Since 1968, Camp Shane has been dedicated to fighting obesity in children and teens. Camp Shane offers six weight loss camps featuring healthy menus, nutrition education, self-esteem building and an extraordinary number of fun activities. By empowering campers with the knowledge and skill set they need to make healthy living choices, Camp Shane has helped tens of thousands of children transform their lives and gain the self confidence needed for a happier and healthier future.

Shane also operates an adult weight loss program, Shane Diet & Fitness Resorts, for adults ages 18-85. It’s a great program for parents to get in shape and lose weight, as well as learn the best methods and techniques to help their children at home.

Even though Camp Shane is recognized as the country’s top-rated youth weight loss camp program, it maintains competitive pricing to ensure its services are available to all children who need to lose weight.
