Mitch Williamson Joins Barron & Newburger, P.C.
Austin, TX & New Brunswick, NJ (PRWEB) March 28, 2016 -- Mitchell L. Williamson, a veteran litigator and defense counsel for more than two decades, has joined Barron & Newburger, P.C. as of Counsel for the firm’s soon to open New Jersey office.
Mr. Williamson, brings over 25 years of experience as a trial lawyer and defense counsel in all areas of consumer and finance law. For the last 14 years, Mr. Williamson was the in-house defense counsel for Pressler & Pressler, LLP.

Mr. Williamson has been a successful legal defender resulting in several important legal decisions. In Jensen v Pressler & Pressler, Mr. Williamson successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit that only material misrepresentations should be actionable under the FDCPA. The Appellate Court affirmed the lower Court's ruling and held that “a false statement is only actionable under the FDCPA if it has the potential to affect the decision-making process of the least sophisticated debtor; in other words, it must be material when viewed through the least sophisticated debtor’s eyes.”
Prior to entering law school, he was a professional photo-journalist in the United States and Israel. He specialized in sports and worked for several media organizations including the New York Times, The Sporting News, the American Soccer League and the NBA.

Mr. Williamson is a 1981graduate of Rutgers University at New Brunswick, New Jersey where he earned a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Education. He earned his Juris Doctor Degree in 1989 from New York Law School. He is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York and the 2nd and 3rd Circuit Courts of Appeal and holds an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale Hubbell.
