1-800-PetMeds® Spring into Action Spay/Neuter Contest to Grant $4,000 to Reduce Pet Overpopulation
Pompano Beach, FL (PRWEB) April 01, 2016 -- 1-800-PetMeds®, America’s Largest Pet Pharmacy®, announces the first annual Spring into Action Spay/Neuter Contest to provide grants for the spaying and neutering of dogs and cats in the U.S. The contest will provide $4,000 in grants to three winning U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
The contest, which started April 1, 2016, at 12 a.m. EDT, will be open to entries through April 14, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Eligible organizations are registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit groups that spay and neuter dogs and/or cats in the U.S.
To enter, a group representative must visit the contest webpage at http://www.petmeds.org/spring-into-action-spay-neuter-contest-2016/ and fill out the entry form. The representative will describe how the organization helps animals in its community and include a picture of the group in action. Only one entry per group may be submitted.
The voting period will be open April 15, 2016, at 12 a.m. EDT through April 27, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. U.S. residents 18 and older are eligible to vote once per 24 hours. The three organizations with the most votes will be announced as winners on or around April 29, 2016.
The first-place group will receive a $2,500 grant to fund spay and neuter surgeries of dogs and/or cats in its community. The second-place group will receive a $1,000 grant, and the third-place group will receive a $500 grant, each to fund spay and neuter surgeries of dogs and/or cats in its respective community.
“Each year, approximately 2.7 million cats and dogs are euthanized in the U.S. due to pet overpopulation and a lack of homes,” said Erin Gleeson, outreach specialist at 1-800-PetMeds®. “Each spring, many more pets are born as outdoor temperatures increase and fertile pets go into heat. We’re proud to introduce the Spring into Action Spay/Neuter Contest as a way to recognize and assist the groups working so diligently to reduce pet overpopulation through responsible spaying and neutering.”
The 1-800-PetMeds® Spring into Action Spay/Neuter Contest is run through the PetMeds Cares program. PetMeds Cares organizes product donations to animal shelters and rescues across the U.S. and runs several annual contests, including the Change a Pet’s Life Contest and National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week Contest, to assist animal shelters and rescues.
