INSP Films has wrapped production of Savannah Sunrise, the newest in a slate of family-friendly movies the company is producing in 2016.
Savannah Sunrise is a dramatic comedy celebrating the often complicated relationship between a woman and her mother-in-law. Straight-laced, type-A personality Joy Miles has to take an unscheduled road trip to drive her forgetful, yet opinionated, mother-in-law, Loraine, from Louisville, Kentucky to Savannah, Georgia. Although initially impatient and frustrated, Joy begins to realize her true affection for Loraine as she takes a front-seat-view of how this strong-willed yet free-spirited woman manages the emotional transition of learning to live life after losing her spouse. Despite their many differences, and with light-hearted adventures at every turn, they discover how much they respect and even need each other.
Gary Wheeler, producer for INSP Films, says the cast and crew resonated with the story. “During filming, we drew on our own experiences dealing with various seasons of life. Loraine is facing the challenges of aging and the difficulties of losing a spouse, whereas Joy is trying to build a successful business while missing out on the relationships that matter the most. Even the actors became involved, refining the script to reflect their own experiences. We all had a lot of fun with the script because the story includes both tense and humorous moments before unfolding into a heartwarming conclusion.”
Joy Miles, played by Shawnee Smith, (Becker, Anger Management, The Stand, Saw, Who’s Harry Crumb?) is an opinionated, driven, hardworking mother of two who runs a successful logistic consulting firm. Pamela Reed (Parks and Recreation, NCIS, CSI, Criminal Minds, Kindergarten Cop, Proof of Life) plays Loraine, Joy’s warm, friendly and welcoming mother-in-law. She is quick to dispose of down-home wisdom, and is everything her daughter-in-law is not.
Additional cast include Shawn Christian (Days of Our Lives, CSI, Becker) and Clare Carey (Coach, NCIS, Chuck).
Savanah Sunrise is produced by INSP Films and distributed by Imagicomm Entertainment. The theatrical premiere is scheduled for late spring 2016. For additional information, please visit http://www.savannahsunrisemovie.com.
