Oakland Celebrates A's with Flag Ceremony at City Hall April 1
(Oakland, CA) (PRWEB) March 29, 2016 -- The Oakland Athletics, Visit Oakland, and the http://www..oaklandnet.com/ [City of Oakland __title__ City of Oakland] will celebrate the return of the baseball season with a flag raising media event at Oakland City Hall on Friday, April 1 at 1 p.m. with Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, A’s President Michael Crowley, A’s Manager Bob Melvin and A’s mascot Stomper. The event is part of Oakland A’s Spirit Week, Wednesday, March 30 to Monday, April 4, which also includes ticket giveaways, special appearances, and community events, and will culminate with Opening Night on Monday, April 4 when the A’s take on the Chicago White Sox at 7:05 p.m. at O.co Coliseum.
The media is invited to attend the raising of the A’s flag atop City Hall:

Other Oakland A’s Spirit Week initiatives include:
- March 30, 10 a.m. – Noon: BART ticket giveaways. Stomper will be riding BART to various stops including Rockridge, West Oakland, Fruitvale and Coliseum stations to distribute game tickets and BART passes.
- March 31, 10:30 a.m.: The A’s will distribute tickets and caps to residents at North Oakland Senior Center (5714 MLK Jr Way).
- April 2, 1:05 p.m.: Giants vs. A’s exhibition game at O.co Coliseum. The team will welcome 50 members of the Oakland Boys and Girls Clubs to the game.
- April 3, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.: Stomper visit at an Oakland Whole Foods Market (230 Bay Place).
- March 30 – April 1: A’s #AthleticsTownBiz Social Media Pop-ups. Fans can follow the A’s on twitter and facebook for location announcements with prize giveaways throughout Oakland.
- AC Transit bus headers to read “Go A’s” on all buses.
- Hotel frontline staff to wear Oakland A’s hats.
- Oakland A’s cheer cards and schedules available at Visit Oakland Visitor Center in Jack London Square.
- Visit Oakland will be promoting A’s Spirit Week with special billboards at the Oakland International Airport, the O.co Coliseum and locations throughout the city.
