Apakau Names Bob Kruger Chief Executive Officer
Sunnyvale, CA (PRWEB) March 31, 2016 -- Apakau™, the leading distributed denial of service (DDoS) prevention solution for dynamic data, announced today that Bob Kruger has joined as chief executive officer. Kruger has a track record of strong leadership with technology companies and brings more than 38 years of computing industry experience, with senior-level roles at Microsoft, Citrix and more recently with numerous startups. Kruger succeeds Vic Cekvenich, the company’s founder and former CEO who will now focus on technology and sales strategic planning.
“I am extremely excited to add Bob to the Apakau team. He brings with him critical leadership competencies to drive Apakau’s technical vision, strategic direction, and operational discipline,” said Cekvenich. “His history of successful product creation, plus extensive background and diverse range of expertise, adds a dimension to our company that will drive innovation and expansion.”
Prior to Apakau, Kruger was the SVP Engineering at DNN Corp, the steward and commercial provider of the leading open source web content management system and web application platform for the Microsoft ecosystem, running on premise and in the cloud.
Previous to DNN Corp, he was SVP of Engineering at start-ups SmApper Technologies, Mimosa Systems, and Mendocino Software, all of which had teams operating in the Silicon Valley and various European and Asian countries. Kruger’s career also includes significant roles as Chief Technology Officer and/or SVP of Engineering at established companies like NDCHealth, Citrix Systems, and BMC Software. At these companies he drove the creation of highly effective multi-geographic engineering and research, plus the creation of new, diverse product lines which added measurably to the companies’ bottom line.
These followed a successful, almost 11-year career at Microsoft Corporation, at which he last oversaw systems management products including the creation of the Web-Based Enterprise Management and Common Information Model standards. Earlier parts of his high tech history began with Northern Telecom (including oversight of a major technology exchange that eventually led to the design and production of the first Brazilian-created computer) and the Commission on Professional and Hospital Activities.
Kruger was a major contributor and technical reviewer for Bill Gates' second book, Business @ the Speed of Thought and a contributing author to Aspatore’s book, Inside the Minds: Making Critical Technology Decisions. He was also a technology advisor to XenSource prior to their $500M acquisition by Citrix Systems.
"I am pleased to join Apakau at a time when the product is already generating revenue and DDoS prevention value for its customers,” said Kruger. “Apakau is an exceptionally focused and creative startup, with very dedicated and talented professionals. Its solution is absolutely essential for a mobile-first economy and age when most devices are Internet-enabled. "
