A New Fundraiser that Fights Skin Cancer—Blue Lizard® Sunscreen is Easy to Sell

Skin cancer is much too common and much too preventable for anyone to ignore the need for quality sunscreen. Selling Blue Lizard® Australian Sunscreen is a way for organizations to adopt the cause of skin cancer prevention while selling a dermatologist-recommended product that everyone needs anytime they go outside, year-round.

Davie County Bandits

The Davie County Bandits not only sell Blue Lizard® sunscreen, but they apply it for every practice and every game.

“It’s a good, healthy product,” says Science Hill Girls’ Soccer Boosters president Stacie Torbett. “You don’t have to go back and deliver anything, so it’s way, way easier than other fundraisers.”

Blue Lizard introduces one of the easiest fundraising models under the sun. Groups simply buy a bundle of gift cards from BlueLizard.net for $10 each and sell the cards at face value ($20 each) to supporters—a 50 percent profit margin.

The new Blue Lizard fundraising program is designed to be especially appropriate for any group that spends a lot of time outdoors: marching bands, field sports teams, aquatics programs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc.

Organizations are encouraged to promote good sunscreen practice at outdoor public events. As skin cancer prevention awareness increases, sunscreen sales are likely to go up.

The Davie County (NC) Bandits 14U girl’s softball team tested the program last year.

“Sunscreen is a regular ritual for every girl at every game,” says Bandits team manager Brandi Reagan. “The team actually sold all of its products and had to go back and request more."

Another test group, Science Hill High School (Johnson City, TN) Girls’ Soccer Boosters, sold over 800 Blue Lizard cards in one month, attributing much of the success to the necessity of sunscreen. And the group appreciates the simplicity of the program.

“It’s a good, healthy product,” says Science Hill Girls’ Soccer Boosters president Stacie Torbett. “You don’t have to go back and deliver anything, so it’s way, way easier than other fundraisers.”

The Skin Cancer Foundation reports:
“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States. More than 5.4 million skin cancers in over 3.3 million people are diagnosed annually. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime.”

Dermatologists agree that the best way to prevent skin cancer is with 30 SPF sunscreen, preferably a zinc oxide, barrier product like Blue Lizard which delivers clinically proven broad-spectrum UVA and UVB skin protection. The products offer the most advanced, high-quality formulations to provide the ultimate in safe sun protection.
