Sherman Oaks Hospital and Encino Hospital Medical Center Collaborate with the LAFD to Encourage Stroke Awareness
Encino, CA (PRWEB) April 04, 2016 -- The Sherman Oaks Hospital and Encino Hospital Medical Center on April 30 will partner with the Los Angeles Fire Department and community groups throughout the San Fernando Valley for a Chili Cook-Off & Stroke Awareness event to help educate and deliver better healthcare to the community.
The focus of the event is to raise awareness and provide information about stroke risk factors, and what to do in a stroke emergency. It will also include information about how best to care for loved ones who may have suffered a stroke.
The Chili Cook-Off & Stroke Awareness event will provide free chili tastings, a salad truck, free blood pressure checks and information designed to increase community health. The event will also offer feature face painters, live music, LAFD and LAPD displays, a silent auction, free home safety items and more.

Why: Stroke is the fifth leading cause of death in the United States, killing nearly 130,000 Americans each year. The Chili Cook-Off & Stroke Awareness event coordinates with the hospitals’ initiatives to help promote and recognize stroke awareness.
