Columbia Community Welcomes Spring With Oyster Roast Fundraiser
Columbia, SC (PRWEB) April 06, 2016 -- Lake Carolina, a 1,850-acre development located in NE Columbia, will be welcoming spring with the community’s 12th Annual Oyster Roast. Held on the property’s lakeside shore (weather permitting) from 4-7pm, residents and members of the greater community can gather to feast on fresh, delectable oysters provided by Southern Way Catering. This event is one of three charitable fundraisers benefiting Lake Carolina’s Children’s Charities of the Midlands, a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the health, welfare and education of South Carolina’s youth.
“We decided to move this popular event to April so that we could enjoy our warmer weather,” says Community Event Director Julia Burley. “It’s going to be a really relaxed and beautiful atmosphere. Guests will get to enjoy a lakeside picnic overlooking the community’s gorgeous nature and, of course, indulge in some delicious food and oyster shucking!” Even seafood skeptics can enjoy a hearty Southern meal with the event’s diverse menu of pulled pork barbecue, chicken and rice gumbo and a chili bar. Beverages such as tea and lemonade will be provided and attendees are encouraged to ‘BYOB’. Southern Way Catering, named Columbia Metropolitan’s “Best of Columbia” in food services for a decade, also caters for Lake Carolina’s yearly fish fry.
While registration is open to the general public, the Oyster Roast brings in plenty of residents from the large-scale master-planned community. “This is a great family event,” says Burley. “There’s plenty of open space for the little ones and it’s the perfect place to mix and mingle.” To learn more about Lake Carolina’s 12th Annual Oyster Roast, visit http://www.lakecarolina.com/oysterroast.aspx.
