To effectively meet the needs of borrowers and the requirements of investors, the industry needs a digital asset management platform that manages the documents at each step in the process. eOriginal has a deep understanding of this process.

eOriginal, Inc., the experts in digital transactions, today announced that Jon Barlow has joined its advisory board. A pioneering figure in marketplace lending, Barlow has the experience to help further eOriginal’s position as the unique digital transaction solution that will enhance investor and regulatory confidence in the burgeoning new financial sector.

Barlow is the founder and former CEO of Eaglewood Capital Management, a leading asset-management firm with $2 billion of assets under management that specializes in online and marketplace lending investment strategies. Under Barlow’s leadership, the firm completed the first-ever securitization of P2P loans, earning Eaglewood Capital the Innovator of the Year Award at the 2014 LendIt Conference. He also serves on the board of directors of Money360 and as an advisory board member of Harmoney and Crowdnetic.

While marketplace lenders are digitally savvy by nature, they have mainly focused on the digital loan origination and signing ceremony. With the growing success of the industry, there are opportunities to enhance and extend digital transaction capabilities to more securely sign, manage and transfer loan contracts and thus protect the value of the documents. Ambiguity of the authoritative copy is a particular challenge facing marketplace lenders. Many are getting ahead of the curve by adopting more robust digital asset management processes and systems – specifically as post-signature lifecycle management becomes more prevalent.

“Marketplace lending, or peer-to-peer lending, is filling a significant gap in lending markets that banks sometimes fail to reach,” said Barlow. “To effectively meet the needs of borrowers and the requirements of investors, the industry needs a digital asset management platform that manages the documents at each step in the process. eOriginal has a deep understanding of this process, and its solution has been extensively vetted by major banks and rating agencies. I look forward to joining the team and helping guide the company’s strategy in this rapidly growing market.”

As CEO of Eaglewood Capital Management, Barlow led the sale of the company to an affiliate of Marshall Wace LLP (MW Eaglewood), a London-based alternative asset manager. He served as MW Eaglewood’s global CEO, overseeing its New York and London business units, and as a member of its board of directors until 2015. During his tenure at Eaglewood, Barlow assisted with the successful initial public offering of P2P Global Investments (ticker “P2P”), the world’s first publicly traded peer-to-peer debt investment vehicle, on the London Stock Exchange.

“Jon’s deep knowledge of marketplace lending will be a great asset to eOriginal in our ongoing commitment to supporting transparency and compliance in marketplace lending,” said Stephen Bisbee, president and CEO of eOriginal. “His dedication to developing and growing the market will help us prepare for changing industry requirements and strengthen our solution.”
