The International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation ("IWIRC") is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2016 Founders Awards. Evelyn Meltzer, a partner in the Corporate Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice Group of Pepper Hamilton LLP, will be awarded the Melnik Award for exceptional contributions by an IWIRC member. Michelle Pickett, a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Toronto, Ontario will receive the Fetner Award for exceptional contributions by an international IWIRC member. The Hong Kong Network is the winner of the Ryan Award for outstanding IWIRC Network.

We laud the Hong Kong Network for its accomplishments of network growth and expansive educational and social programs for our members in that region.”
Evelyn Meltzer currently serves as IWIRC’s Vice Director of Regional Programming and also chairs the IWIRC at the Shore regional conference. Meltzer’s efforts with respect to IWIRC at the Shore, having just completed its fourth year, have been instrumental in opening the door to a broader discussion and focus on regional planning within IWIRC,. “Meltzer’s tireless efforts in growing IWIRC at the Shore demonstrate that she is an exceptional leader, who thinks outside the box and can solve any problem. Her commitment to IWIRC is unparalleled, and I am beyond proud to have Meltzer as a mentor in the restructuring industry and as a friend,” stated Meltzer’s nominator. In addition, Meltzer is the past chair of the IWIRC Delaware Network and remains an active member of the Delaware board and an avid supporter of the Delaware Network. Meltzer, a partner in Pepper Hamilton LLP’s Wilmington, Delaware office, focuses her practice on debtor and committee representation and has played a major role in many of the country’s most recognized chapter 11 bankruptcy cases. In addition to her many accomplishments, Meltzer is a mom to very active, young twins.
Michelle Pickett currently serves as IWIRC’s Canadian Networks Director and has been at the forefront of growing the Canadian networks and fostering a positive environment for women to develop in the restructuring industry. In addition, Pickett serves on the IWIRC Programming Committee and has been instrumental in the preparations for IWIRC’s 2016 Leadership Summit to be held in Toronto in July. “Pickett has a positive presence in IWIRC and she brings stability and calm to the efforts of every team she is on,” stated her nominator. In her work life, Pickett is a partner in the Deals practice of PwC Canada and a member of PwC Canada’s Corporate Advisory and Restructuring Group where she has led and managed a diverse range of restructuring assignments including operating and liquidating CCAAs, BIA Proposals, receiverships and bankruptcies across a wide range of industries. In addition to her many work accolades and contributions to IWIRC, Pickett is a very involved mom to three children.
The IWIRC Hong Kong Network has in excess of 100 members and continues to grow as a result of its creative programming and networking opportunities, its enthusiastic board, its commitment to providing value to its members and its effort to give back to the community. The Hong Kong Network is recognized as the top network for restructuring and insolvency professionals in Hong Kong and regularly collaborates and partners with other groups both within and outside of the restructuring industry. In 2015 alone, the Hong Kong Network organized and hosted eleven events attended by over 600 restructuring professionals. The Hong Kong Network is very active on social media and uses it as a way to promote and stay in touch with its members and friends. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, the Hong Kong Network hosted a sold out black tie dinner. In addition, the Hong Kong Network and its board have been instrumental in establishing and growing other IWIRC networks in Japan, China, Singapore, and more recently, Malaysia. The efforts and creativity of the Hong Kong Network have significantly contributed to the local and international profile of IWIRC and it is an exemplary network worthy of recognition and receipt of the Ryan Award. The Hong Kong Network was founded in 2005 by Jacqueline Walsh and Aruni Weerasekera.
