The paradigm shift in healthcare and the role of evidence will be the focus

Winifred S. Hayes, RN, PhD, ANP

“By leveraging an evidence-based approach to assess evolving technologies and treatments, payers and providers can more effectively manage financial risk and improve health outcomes,”

Hayes, Inc. is pleased to announce that Winifred S. Hayes, RN, PhD, ANP, President and CEO, will be a guest speaker at two upcoming conferences this April. Under Dr. Hayes’ leadership, Hayes, Inc. has become an industry leader in providing unbiased, clinically focused, evidence-based research and analysis to health plans and hospitals. Both speaking engagements highlight the pillars upon which Dr. Hayes founded the company and the mission she strives to achieve: transform healthcare through the use of evidence.

Dr. Hayes will present at the HPA (Health Plan Alliance) Spring Leadership Value Visit in Dallas, TX on April 14, 2016. At this event, she will discuss the potential collaboration between payers and providers as the field of healthcare transitions to value-based reimbursement and the crucial role evidence will play in this process. “By leveraging an evidence-based approach to assess evolving technologies and treatments, payers and providers can more effectively manage financial risk and improve health outcomes,” explains Dr. Hayes. “There are multiple factors driving healthcare spending in the U.S. which then translates into reimbursement model challenges.”

The second of Dr. Hayes’ speaking engagements will take place at the RGA (Reinsurance Group of America) Stop Loss Symposium in Philadelphia, PA on April 18, 2016. This presentation is directed toward the health plan market and focuses on the shift in healthcare from volume to value. “The way the healthcare industry has been operating over the last 70 years is no longer sustainable,” comments Dr. Hayes. “Our current system is heavily biased toward dissemination of new technologies with minimal evaluation. This increases the likelihood that new technologies can be introduced even though they may not improve patient care or outcomes, be cost-effective or have positive financial impact.”

HPA is a resource for member health plans that offers educational programming, vendor negotiations, and networking opportunities. Originally founded in 1996, the alliance’s membership consists of approximately 50 health plans owned or affiliated with health systems, collectively representing millions of covered lives. RGA serves clients in 26 different countries. They deliver reinsurance solutions, individual living benefits reinsurance, group reinsurance, financial solutions, facultative underwriting, and product development.
