Ellevate Network, a Professional Women's Organization, Earns B Corporation Certification
New York, NY (PRWEB) April 09, 2016 -- Ellevate Network, a global women’s network serving as the essential resource for professional women who create, inspire and lead, today announced that it has officially become a Certified B Corporation. B Corporations are a new kind of company that use the power of business to address society’s greatest challenges. Ellevate Network joins the rapidly growing movement of more than 1,600 Certified B Corporations from 130 industries, across 48 countries including companies like Etsy, Warby Parker, and Ben & Jerry’s.

Unlike traditional corporations, Certified B Corporations are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on their employees, suppliers, community, consumers, and environment. The B Impact Assessment grades a company on 17 categories of social and environmental topics. Questions range from whether the company pays above a living wage to whether the company sources its products from women or minority-owned businesses. B Lab, the non-profit that developed the B Impact Assessment, envisions that in a generation’s time, all businesses, not just sustainable businesses, will measure and manage their impact. And as a result, businesses in the future will not only compete to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world.
